Hands down favourite professor at the University of Western Ontario. Professor Burjaw’s enthusiasm and passion is refreshing and was truly the beginning of my active engagement in studies at UWO. This is no coincidence; it was in his marketing and operations management classes that I began to see the real-world connection to concepts and theories in textbooks. Professor Burjaw’s incorporation of real examples into his teaching was invaluable for my learning experience. It is refreshing to have a professor who doesn’t only tell you that you need to know something but also why you need to know it. His dedication to teaching is evident inside and outside the classroom and his vast amount of experience adds real-world credibility to his insight, which in my opinion business faculties everywhere need more of. It was nice having a professor who has actually had to meet a Friday payroll at some point in their career- not just talk about it.

I graduated from the BMOS program at Western in 2009, and have already used the principles learned in Professor Burjaw's operations course a countless number of times. Professor Burjaw translates the text into real life examples, and really emphasizes the importances of operations on any organization. I was able to compete and excel in many business simulations and case competitions purely relying on concepts taught in the course like inventory management, supply chain management, and forecasting and planning. I think that the real value of the course (and the BMOS program) lies in its focus on essential, yet misunderstood and otherwise untaught concepts in business management.
