Testimonials

Hands down favourite professor at the University of Western Ontario. Professor Burjaw’s enthusiasm and passion is refreshing and was truly the beginning of my active engagement in studies at UWO. This is no coincidence; it was in his marketing and operations management classes that I began to see the real-world connection to concepts and theories in textbooks. Professor Burjaw’s incorporation of real examples into his teaching was invaluable for my learning experience. It is refreshing to have a professor who doesn’t only tell you that you need to know something but also why you need to know it. His dedication to teaching is evident inside and outside the classroom and his vast amount of experience adds real-world credibility to his insight, which in my opinion business faculties everywhere need more of. It was nice having a professor who has actually had to meet a Friday payroll at some point in their career- not just talk about it.

During my four years at the University of Western Ontario, the brand of instruction and advice offered by Rick Burjaw was certainly unrivaled. Rick brought a certain realism and style to the classroom that other professors simply couldn't deliver. His real world experiences and examples made the material relevant and memorable. Thank you Rick for your continuing guidance and support, you are truly an inspiration for your students and your clients!

Prof. Burjaw is a blessing to the students of UWO. He brings real experience, insight and passion to the topics of marketing and operations management. Through his charismatic and sarcastic demeanor, he creates an amusing and yet thought-proving learning environment. Above all, Prof. Burjaw sincerely cares about the future and well being of his students. He is a true rarity amongst Professors.

After four years at UWO I had only two professors that put the bonus of student attendance on themselves. It is no coincidence that these are the two teachers I have kept in touch with post-graduation. Professor Burjaw's focus on results, as opposed to tradition or a preferred process for learning, make him an excellent teacher. His demeanor allows him to comment and contribute candidly on any topic that comes across his path.

Understanding, perceptive, and experienced, that's how I characterize Rich Burjaw. His mix of scholastic and real world knowledge helps put textbook material into perspective. Beyond classroom, he was always willing to spend time talking business, school or work. I am truly grateful for all the time and energy he spent on me to succeed.

I graduated from the BMOS program at Western in 2009, and have already used the principles learned in Professor Burjaw's operations course a countless number of times. Professor Burjaw translates the text into real life examples, and really emphasizes the importances of operations on any organization. I was able to compete and excel in many business simulations and case competitions purely relying on concepts taught in the course like inventory management, supply chain management, and forecasting and planning. I think that the real value of the course (and the BMOS program) lies in its focus on essential, yet misunderstood and otherwise untaught concepts in business management. Professor Burjaw offers real guidance in matters pertaining to both school and future career paths; it is because of his commitment and dedication to his students that I am in an MBA program pursuing a career that fits me well.

Professor Burjaw is a teacher one will never forget. His enthusiasm and passion for teaching that he brings to the classroom is characteristic to be admired and cherished. I believe that I was able to attain a vast amount of knowledge in the field of Operations due to his unique and fun style of lectures. Not only does he show a passion for his teaching, but also shows an active interest for his students and takes the time to assist with academic issues or future job endeavors. I owe a huge thanks to Professor Burjaw for helping me with applying for my current job I have today.

I have experienced Rick Burjaw, the teacher and Rick Burjaw, the consultant and you will find no better. As my teacher for three years at Fanshawe College, he enhanced my education like no other teacher could have. As my consultant for five years, he has provided information and support for Bayside medical that guided it through it's start-up and continued growth. He is an invaluable resource to my company.
